Head Of Bawaslu Calls Government Facilities Such As GOR To Village Hall Can Be Used For Regional Head Election Campaign

Chairman of Bawaslu Rahmat Bagja said the candidate pair for regional head can use government facilities to carry out the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada campaign.

He gave an example of one of the government-owned facilities that became a subscription as a grand campaign event, namely Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK).

"Can government facilities be a campaign? It's okay. How many times did Gelora Bung Kano become a place for public meetings? So there is no problem with that," said Bagja as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 28.

In addition, Bagja revealed that regional head candidates can also carry out campaigns in the village government (pemdes)-owned hall if rented out.

"For campaigns that are general meetings or limited and treated equally and the village hall is rented out, they are still allowed," he said.

Bagja also emphasized that government facilities for campaigning may be used but must prioritize fair principles so that the local government must treat the same policy to all pairs of regional head candidates.

"If the village hall is not rented and not opened to the public, then it also applies to the campaign," concluded Bagja.
