JAKARTA - The East Jakarta City Administration Government carries out simultaneous monitoring of food content in six traditional markets in the East Jakarta area, Tuesday.

The six traditional markets are Ciracas Market, Kramat Jati Market, Cibubur Market, Cijantung Market, Jambul Market, and Makassar Lokbin Market.

East Jakarta Administrative Mayor M Anwar while leading the activity said this supervision was carried out to anticipate the circulation of food products such as meat, vegetables, and other foodstuffs containing harmful chemicals.

"We want to make sure that all food products sold in traditional markets are safe to consume," he said.

According to him, examination of food products is carried out regularly with a random system so that the results are maximized.

"We do it randomly which market we will conduct an inspection, this is unscheduled and all impromptu so that we can find out which types of food are sold free from harmful substances," he said.

The surveillance activity also checks commodity prices in the market.

"Earlier I checked that all prices did not change, the price was still the same, there was no price increase, and the price was still stable, but only from complaints from traders, people's purchasing power was reduced," he said.

On that occasion, the East Jakarta City Government took samples of meat and vegetables from traders to check or check whether the samples taken contained harmful substances or not, such as pesticides and others.

"This is important so that when consumed by the community, it is free from harmful substances," he explained.

Meanwhile, Head of the East Jakarta KPKP Sub-dept., Hendra Juniarto, said as many as 156 samples of livestock and agricultural products were taken from six markets to be inspected by two laboratory cars on standby at Ciracas Market.

The samples taken consisted of agricultural and livestock commodities, such as vegetables, fruits, rice, chicken meat, beef, and kikil.

"The types of tests carried out are pesticide residue, formalin, chlorine, and others. Of the total samples, they have been declared safe based on laboratory test results," said Hendra.
