Mendikdasmen: Prabowo Wants Mathematical Lessons To Be Known Since Kindergarten

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto will improve the method of learning mathematics, especially at the elementary level to improve the quality of science and technology obtained by students.

"Earlier, the President emphasized the importance of the quality of learning mathematics and how the learning method was improved, including the consequences for training mathematics teachers," said Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti when met at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 22.

After attending a limited meeting with President Prabowo Subianto, Mu'ti explained that the president paid great attention to improving the quality of science and technology that could be achieved through the development of learning mathematics, especially in grades 1-4 of elementary school (SD).

In addition to improving learning methods, President Prabowo will also provide training for mathematics teachers.

Prabowo, said Mu'ti, proposed that mathematical learning be introduced starting from kindergarten (TK) levels.

"Earlier there was an offer of how mathematical lessons at the elementary, grade 1-4, and maybe introducing mathematics to children at the kindergarten level," said Mu'ti.

When asked about the sustainability of the Independent Learning curriculum such as the Minister of Education and Culture before, Mu'ti admitted that there had been no discussion with the President.

Mu'ti said her leadership would review the implementation of the Independent Curriculum Learning policy.
