Iran Will Reveal New Defense Technology If Israel Carries Out Attacks

JAKARTA - Iran will uncover a new type of defense technology, anticipating possible Israeli retaliatory attacks, a senior member of Iran's Parliament said.

"If Israel takes action against Iran, a new type of Iranian defense weapon will definitely be revealed," Iranian deputy parliamentary chairman Ali Nikzad said, quoted from Mehr, October 9.

A new type of missile was revealed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Operation True Promise II which was not used in previous operations against Israel, Nikzad reminded.

Iran is known to have launched a counter-attack against occupied Palestinians with a series of domestically-made missiles on October 1, with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) saying 90 percent of the missiles hit the target.

The operation was carried out in response to the murder of the Head of the Political Bureau of Hamas Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah Leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and senior IRGC general Brigadier General Abbas Nilforooshan.

Israel denounced the attack and promised to retaliate. Tehran warned that any countermeasures by Israel would be responded to strongly, proportionally and carefully, as quoted by Tasnim.

Iran's defense minister said Iran's target of retaliatory attacks on Israel was the intelligence headquarters and three military bases of the Tel Aviv regime.

"Operation True Promise II is carried out with a success rate of more than 90 percent and is fully in accordance with international law," he said.

"Iran is not targeting civilian locations," he said.
