JAKARTA - A number of judges who are members of the Indonesian Judge Solidarity Movement (SHI) attended a public hearing (RDPU) with Commission III of the DPR. These judges complained to the DPR regarding their professional welfare issues.
The judges held hearings with the Supreme Court, up to the Ministry of Finance and the DPR when they held mass leave on 7-11 October 2024.
"During mass leave 7-11 October 2024, 148 judges from various audience areas in Jakarta," said SHI spokesman Fauzan Arrasyid, Tuesday, October 8.
The judge's solidarity claims there are thousands of judges on collective leave throughout Indonesia. They demanded an adjustment to the salaries and allowances of judges that had not changed for 12 years.
"Today, fellow judges who come from all over the region, in Indonesia are around 148 people. Their presence today uses savings funds that they have been saving for a long time. Some of our colleagues who do not have a fortune to Jakarta are currently taking their annual rights leave to stay at home," said Fauzan.
In a meeting with members of the DPR, the judges said they did not ask for a grandiose salary increase in this mass leave movement. The judges only asked for the feasibility of life.
"We don't ask for heights like the commissioner of Pertamina, no sir. We don't ask like the president director of Mandiri," added the judge of the Bireuen District Court (PN), Aceh, Rangga Lukita Desnata.

According to Rangga, the judge has a big responsibility to decide various cases. Therefore, he asked the judges to be more concerned about their welfare.
"In order for justice to remain upright on the face of Indonesian soil, we ask sir, so that our welfare is considered," said Rangga.
Rangga explained that currently, the judge's salary that has just been appointed can get around Rp. 12 million per month. The nominal consists of a basic salary of around Rp. 3 million and various allowances of Rp. 8.5 million.
However, this income is not enough to meet the needs of judges who must also consider various things, including the safety of their families.
"We have no security. Our children and wives are threatened by their souls, sir," said Rangga.
Rangga said the judge's monthly income was not enough to meet the needs of a decent and safe life, such as owning a car and a house.
"If we use a motorbike, sir, it is very vulnerable, a little grazed by the party, we can be injured, can die ridiculously," he said.
The judge of the Bireuen District Court said the judges did not need a luxury house or car, but their income only needed to be increased so that they could live safely.
Rangga also mentioned the inequality of the judge's salary with the income of celebrities. "Our current salary could be like Rafathar's pocket money for three days. Rafathar is a celebrity's son, an artist's son, Raffi Ahmad. It could be like that," he said.
