SULTRA - Basarnas evacuated an elderly husband and wife (couple) who lost their way in the Nanga-nana Forest, Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi Province (Sultra).

Head of Basarnas Kendari Aminuddin PS said the couple named Abdul Rahman (77) and Siti Rasdiana (76) were reported missing by family at 14.25 WITA, Thursday, October 3.

"We received information that conditions have endangered humans to the two missing people in the Nanga-nana garden," Aminuddin said when contacted, Thursday, October 3, as quoted by Antara.

Based on the report, his party dispatched a Rescue Team to the location.

"The distance from the reported location with the Kendari Basarnas is about 3.15 kilometers," he said.

Aminuddin revealed that when he arrived at the location, the Kendari Basarnas Rescue Team arrived and immediately conducted a sweep at 15.00 WITA.

At 15.40 WITA the victim was found about 3.37 kilometers east of the approximate direction of their last location in a safe condition.

"The two victims were evacuated to the victim's family home in Nambo District, then handed over to the family," said Aminuddin.

With the discovery of the two victims safe, the SAR operation was closed.

"The elements involved in the search are the Kendari Basarnas Ops Staff, the Kendari Basarnas Rescue Team, and the victim's family," said Aminuddin.

Aminuddin revealed that the disappearance of the two victims began when they were about to go to the garden which was planned to be sold at 08.00 WITA. At 11.00 WITA the victim called one of his relatives and informed them that they were lost and tired.

"So they need help to be evacuated," said Aminuddin.
