Cloudflare, Inc., a leading connectivity cloud company, recently released a new study on cybersecurity in the Asia Pacific region.

Titled 'Security New Landscape Navigation: Asia Pacific Cyber Security Readiness Survey', the report reveals that 65 percent of organizations experiencing ransomware attacks in the last two years have said they have paid the ransom.

Overall, the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) or Virtual Private Network (VPN) server that was successfully attacked (65 percent) has proven to be the most common way of entering threat actors.

The survey also revealed that 81 percent of respondents in Indonesia are concerned that the possibility of AI can increase the sophistication and severity of data violations.

In addition, 40 percent of respondents said that their organization had experienced data breaches in the last 12 months, with 38 percent of them stating they had experienced 11 or more data breaches.

The industries that experienced the most data violations in this survey included the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality (67 percent), Education (60 percent), and Government (50 percent) sectors.

Meanwhile, threat actors mostly target customer data (71 percent), financial data (58 percent), and user access credentials (56 percent).

"Cyber security leaders must continuously evaluate their experts, budgets, and strategies so that they can still overcome cyber threats that continue to develop and protect their organization," said Kenneth Lai, Vice President, ASEAN at Cloudflare.
