Commander Of The Chechen Akhmat Special Forces Claims Russian Troops Successfully Seized Two Villages In Kursk

JAKARTA - Russian troops successfully seized two villages in the western Kursk region, as the country's troops continued to advance against thousands of Ukrainian troops who broke through the border last month, a general said.

Commander of the Special Forces Akhmat Chechen and Deputy Head of the Military-Political Department of the Russian Ministry of Defense Major General Apti Alau Alau said Russia had captured Nikolayevo-Darino and Darino.

The villages are about 15 km (9 miles) from the former frontline founded by Ukrainian forces in August, giving Russian troops a position to attack Sverdlikovo, which Ukrainian troops have been using as logistics centers.

"All of our front lines have moved forward," Major General Alau Badminton said, adding Russian troops were also advancing in eastern Ukraine.

Russia, which sent tens of thousands of troops to Ukraine in 2022, began a massive counter-attack on Ukrainian troops earlier this month from the west of a plot of land they were fighting over.

Ukraine launched its largest cross-border attack on Russia since the Second World War on August 6, breaking through the border to the western Kursk region supported by swarms of drones and heavy weapons, including Western weapons.

In addition, Ukraine has tried to break through Russia's borders elsewhere to the east of advanced Russian troops in a bid to divert troops from the main attacks there, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

On the other hand, Russia, which controls about 18 percent of Ukraine, has also advanced in eastern Ukraine and captured Ukraine on Tuesday.
