JAKARTA - Oran Routh, the son of the alleged perpetrator of the attempted murder of former United States PresidentDonald Trump, said his father had traveled to Ukraine and was excited about the situation in the eastern European country.
"My father went there and saw people... fighting and dying," Oran Routh was quoted as saying by The Guardian.
Oran said he was dissatisfied with Trump refusing to answer whether the Republican US presidential candidate wanted Ukraine to win the war against Russia.
He added that Trump was deemed to have done nothing to Ukraine.
Oran also admitted that he could not speak to his father or get a complete explanation regarding the investigation into the assassination attempt.
US media previously reported that the man arrested in the alleged second attempted murder of Trump was Ryan Wesley Routh, 58 years old.
According to congressman Yeon Taylor Greene and netizens, the suspect is "obsessed" with the conflict in Ukraine.
Routh is said to have visited Kiev and was involved in recruiting foreigners to become Ukrainian soldiers. However, this information has not been officially confirmed.

His shot only hit Trump's ear, but killed one presenter and injured two others. A US Secret Service sniper shot him dead.
The second shooting took place on Sunday at Trump's golf club in Florida.
