Indonesian Delegation to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's Funeral Depart Tomorrow Night

JAKARTA - MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani said the Indonesian government delegation to the funeral of the late Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will depart for Masyhad, Iran, on Thursday (9/7) evening.

"The Indonesian delegation that will go to Iran will depart tomorrow night. We will fly directly from Jakarta to Masyhad, the city that will be the last resting place of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei," said Muzani as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 8.

Muzani said the delegation is expected to arrive in Masyhad on Friday (10/7) morning. The delegation will immediately depart for Khamenei's last resting place to subsequently attend a meeting with the Iranian government.

"Not staying. Until morning. In the morning, the funeral, the afternoon pilgrimage, and then after that, he said, we will meet with the Foreign Minister and the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament," he explained.

According to Muzani, the formation of the Indonesian Government delegation is still the same as planned earlier, namely Foreign Minister Sugiono, himself as the president's special envoy, plus a number of ulama.

"Maybe there will be some ulama who will participate, I just don't know his name," he said.

Ali Khamenei has served as Iran's supreme leader for nearly 37 years. Khameneimeninggal duniadalam serangan Amerika Serikat dan Israel di Teheran pada 28 Februari 2026.

His son, Mojtaba Khamenei, was elected as Iran's new supreme leader in March 2026.
