Bawaslu Promises To Take Action On Village Heads Who Are Proven Not Neutral

JAKARTA - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) has promised to be ready to take action against village heads who are proven not to be neutral in the simultaneous Regional Head Election (Pilkada) on November 27, 2024.

"We remind the neutrality of village heads. Maybe now we are processing it with prevention procedures," said Head of Bawaslu Central Sulawesi, Nasrun quoting Antara.

But he continued, starting September 22, 2024 or during the campaign period, if there are village heads, openly or secretly, and it is known that supervisors have violated the campaign, they will be processed by election violations.

"Starting on the 22nd, the full authority of Bawaslu will determine whether there are violations or not," he said.

Nasrun made this affirmation during the consolidation of supervision of the simultaneous regional elections in Central Sulawesi City, Friday. The activity was attended by 800 sub-district-level election supervisory committees (Panwascam) from 13 districts/cities throughout Central Sulawesi.

He also reminded the results of mapping the vulnerability index, which places Central Sulawesi in the top five provinces with high vulnerabilities. He said the position was based on a mapping of vulnerability launched by the Indonesian Bawaslu, with 27 indicators all met.

"This is homework for all of us, to take preventive measures, so that the predicted situation does not really occur," he said.

The consolidation aims to increase the capacity and capabilities of the district and city Bawaslu ranks, especially the Panwascam who is responsible for overseeing the stages of simultaneous regional head elections in the field.
