KPK Confiscates House Worth IDR 3.5 Billion Allegedly Belonging To The Son Of The Former Governor Of North Maluku

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confiscated a house in the South Jakarta area today, Wednesday, September 11. This property is suspected to be related to the money laundering crime (TPPU) that ensnared former North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba.

"KPK has confiscated a plot of land and buildings or houses in the Jakarta area with an estimated value of Rp. 3.5 billion," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika to reporters in a written statement, Wednesday, September 11.

Tessa did not specify the ownership of the house. Meanwhile, a source said this house was confiscated from Abdul Gani Kasuba's son.

As for this case, the anti-corruption commission has examined Abdul Gani Kasuba's son, M. Tariq Kasuba. He is often questioned about his father's assets, which are suspected of originating from corrupt practices.

Previously reported, the KPK named the inactive North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba as a suspect in the alleged crime of money laundering (TPPU). He is suspected of washing up to Rp100 billion.

The determination of this suspect was carried out as the development of the alleged bribery of goods and services procurement projects as well as the granting of permits within the North Maluku Provincial Government. Abdul Gani has been detained along with five other suspects since December 20 after being caught in a hand arrest operation (OTT).

In addition, the KPK named Abdul Gani Kasuba's confidant, Muhaimin Syarif, who is the former chairman of the North Maluku Gerindra Party DPD as a suspect.

He is suspected of bribing former North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba in the amount of Rp. 7 billion for the management of the Production Operation IUP to the proposal for the determination of the mining business permit area (WIUP) to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Then this gift is also related to projects within the North Maluku Provincial Government. The bribe was given by Muhaimin Syarif directly to Abdul Gani or through aides and through banking transactions.
