The Problem Of Closing Unilateral Drainage Has Been Discussed In Lubang Buaya Village But There Is No Solution

JAKARTA - The impact of flooding due to the closure of drainage of waterways on Jalan Damai RT 13/09, Lubang Buaya Village, Cipayung District, East Jakarta, is increasingly expanding to other RT areas.

The unilateral closure of water drainage makes local residents feel aggrieved by the flooding from the overflow of waterways.

"About 50 houses were affected by the flood, but it turns out that the impact is not only RT 13, RT 04 has also been affected and has expanded to several RTs, the impact is more than 50 houses (KK)," said Bambang Kuncoro, a local resident to reporters at the location, Monday, September 9.

Bambang hopes that the East Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) can immediately intervene in response to the closure of the drainage of waterways carried out by land owners which are crossed by waterways.

"As soon as possible, the government will reactivate the waterways and open them today," he said.

Bambang said that residents had reported the incident of overflowing water from waterways that were closed unilaterally but were ignored by the authorities.

"We have all lived the bureaucracy but there has been no response at all. We only get false hopes, he said we want to be sucked in, but there is no us coming to the village many times, there is a meeting but the point is not realized," he regretted.

He asked the East Jakarta City Government to immediately open and re-flow the drainage of the waterways that have been covered by soil piles.

"The water channel is large in size 2 meters, and it was built by the local government from the river stone, but why was it closed arbitrarily two weeks ago. If they do have them, there should be a water channel made, then it will be taken down," he said.

Previously, it was reported that the drainage of connecting channels (Phb) in the residents of Jalan Damai, Gang Bahagia 1 and 2, RT 13/09, Lubang Buaya Village, Cipayung District, East Jakarta, overflowed due to forced closures by land owners crossed by waterways.

"The water channel began to close on August 27, 2024. The inundation began on August 27-31 has been inundated," said one resident with the initials H when confirmed by VOI, Monday, September 9.

As a result of the closure of the drainage of the waterways, about 50 houses were affected by the overflow of water that smelled bad. Ironically, the location of the clogged channel is around the Lubang Buaya Village office.
