East Lampung KPU Rejects Dawam-Ketut Registration To Advance For Pilbup, Bawaslu Conducts Studies

JAKARTA - Lampung Bawaslu member Gistiawan said his party would conduct a study on the rejection of the East Lampung KPU against the prospective pair of regent-deputy regent M. Dawam Rahardjo-Ketut Erawan.

"If the candidate pair submits a legal action to Bawaslu, we will review it. Bawaslu opens space for this effort," said Gistiawan when contacted, in Bandarlampung, Thursday, September 5, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said, after the rejection of the Dawam-Ketut candidate pair, Bawaslu immediately made preparations within the East Lampung Bawaslu.

"This is done if there are legal remedies, which will be carried out by the Dawam-Ketut candidate pair, based on the KPU's decision," he said.

He also said that the Lampung Bawaslu was ready to mediate with Dawam-Ketut regarding registrations rejected by the East Lampung KPU.

"We are ready to mediate if there is legal action by the Dawam-Ketut pair as stated in Perbawaslu 2/2020 and SE Bawaslu RI No. 96/2024," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the East Lampung KPU, Wasiyat Jarwo, said that his party rejected the Dawam-Ketut registration which was promoted by the PDI-P (PDIP) on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

That's because, said Wasiyat, PDIP has registered the regent and deputy regent on behalf of Hj. Ela Siti Nuryamah and Hi. Azwar Hadi in the Nomination Information System (Silon).

"We have returned the documents for the nomination requirements and requirements for Dawam-Ketut candidates because the supporting political parties, namely PDIP, are still a political party that registered the candidate pairs for regent and deputy regent on behalf of Hj. Ela Siti Nuryamah and Hi. Azwar Hadi in Silon," he said.
