Today's Indonesian Weather is Dominated by Thick Clouds, BMKG Watches Heavy Rain

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that today's weather, Tuesday, August 11, in most parts of Indonesia will be thick clouds.

BMKG Praktirawan Wahyu Annisa said that starting from the Sumatra region, Banda Aceh and Jambi City are expected to be cloudy, while Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Pangkal Pinang, and Bengkulu are thick clouds.

"Potential smoke or fog can occur in the Padang and Bandar Lampung areas, while light intensity rain is expected to rain on Medan City," said Wahyu, quoted by Antara, Selaasa this morning.

Still in Sumatra, the city of Palembang is predicted to experience hazy air.

Turning to Java Island, the weather in Yogyakarta City is predicted to be hazy, while Jakarta, Semarang, and Bandung have the potential to be cloudy.

"Surabaya City is predicted to be cloudy, while Serang will be covered by thick clouds," said Annisa.

Then for Kalimantan, the weather in Pontianak, Palangka Raya, and Banjarmasin is predicted to be hazy, while Samarinda is cloudy. Light intensity rain is predicted to rain on the Tanjung Selor area.

Moving to the Bali and Nusa Tenggara region, the weather in Denpasar and Kupang is predicted to be cloudy, while Mataram has the potential for hazy air.

For the Sulawesi region, Palu City is predicted to have hazy weather, while Mamuju, Makassar, and Manado will be cloudy. Gorontalo and Kendari cities have the potential to be covered by thick clouds.

Meanwhile, in the Maluku and North Maluku regions, Ternate is predicted to be thick clouds, while Ambon will be showered with light intensity rain.

Shifting to Papua, the Manokwari area is predicted to have hazy air, while Merauke is cloudy. Sorong City has the potential for thick clouds.

"For Nabire, Jayawijaya, and Jayapura, it will be rained with light intensity," said Annisa.

BMKG also reminded the public to be on alert for the potential for moderate to heavy rain in the northernmost areas of Sumatra, Yogyakarta, the northern areas of Sulawesi Island, West Papua, to West Papua.
