JAKARTA - The Gunung Tangkuban Boat tourist forest area, on the border of West Bandung Regency - Subang, West Java, was monitored by officers at the Gunung Tangkuban Boat Volcano Observation Post at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources experiencing a fire.

Head of the Geological Agency M Wafid said the fire conditions were monitored by the surveillance camera of the Mount Tangkuban Boat observation post.

Observation post officers found white smoke and incandescent flames seen burning over a new crater or close to Upas Hills.

According to him, this condition was confirmed through the confirmation of the natural tourism management of Mount Tangkuban Boat PT GRPP and residents, that there had been a tourist forest fire at the same point according to surveillance camera observations.

In detail, the exact location of the fire is not yet known. However, Wafid said, until now the community and related parties, including the management of natural tourism parks, are still trying to extinguish the fire.

The Geological Agency ensured that the fire did not interfere with the Tangkuban Parahu volcano monitoring station because its location was far from the scene. Likewise, the condition of the volcano with a height of 2,084 meters above sea level is confirmed to be normal.

This normality is explained based on visual monitoring of the condition of the Queen Crater and the Buung Takupan Boat Ecoma Crater, which did not see an anomaly of crater smoke gusts compared to previous observations at 14:27 WIB.

The seismic volcanic activity of Mount Tangkuban Parahu is still dominated by low frequency earthquakes that indicate fluid movement activity at shallow or near the surface depth.

Meanwhile, the type of volcanic earthquake that is associated with the supply of magma has not shown a significant or average event rate of less than one incident per day.

The results of monitoring the deformation with Tiltmeter equipment and Electronic Distance Measurement (EDM) this month have not shown a significant pattern of pressure-accretion from below the surface to the response to the coupling of Mount Tangkuban Parahu.
