Mayor Of Semarang: If Homecoming Is Prohibited, Bus-Trains Should Not Be Still Running

SEMARANG - Semarang Mayor Hendrar Prihadi has asked the government not to facilitate the operation of all modes of public transportation following the ban on the 2021 Eid homecoming.

"If it is banned, don't make it easy for the modes of transportation that support homecoming," said the mayor who is familiarly called Hendi in Semarang, as quoted by Antara, Monday, March 29.

According to him, extra efforts need to be made to prevent people from traveling during the pandemic is still very worrying.

Hendi emphasized that the Semarang City Government supports the central government's policy on prohibiting homecoming.

However, Hendi hopes that there is a balance in making policies with those in the field.

"Not when it is banned, but trains, buses, airplanes are still running," continued Hendi.

Previously reported, the Coordinating Minister for PMK and Deputy Chair of the COVID-19 Handling Committee Muhadjir Efendy stated that the government has decided to eliminate Lebaran 2021 homecoming activities.

This decision was taken because of the high number of cases and deaths due to COVID-19.
