Indonesian Bawaslu Orders Regional Bawaslu To Gather Village Heads To Prevent Participation In The 2024 Pilkada

JAKARTA - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawalu) of the Republic of Indonesia instructs Bawaslu ranks in each region to gather village heads (kades) to socialize the prevention of partiality to candidate pairs in the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada).

Members of the Indonesian Bawaslu Puadi said that taking part in village heads is one of the many problems that occurs when referring to the experience in the 2020 Pilkada, so regions need to aggressively call for neutrality to government officials at the lowest level.

"There are many criminal acts related to the alignment of village heads," said Puadi during the Coordination Meeting of the Gakkumdu Center in North Sumatra in Medan, North Sumatra, Thursday, August 29, which was confiscated by Antara.

So far, Bawaslu has conducted socialization with the concept of law enforcement clinics. This refers to the emergence of the problem of taking sides with the village head, in the 2020 Pilkada there were also cases of money politics and voting more than once.

For this reason, according to him, Bawaslu has also finalized regulations with the DPR RI, through amendments to Bawaslu Regulation Number 8 of 2020 to prevent potential violations that occur during the Pilkada stage.

So far, he said Bawaslu had mapped vulnerabilities in all provinces and regencies/cities that held the Pilkada. According to him, the mapping is divided into several stages, starting from the nomination stage, campaign, voting, to vote counting.

According to him, the Integrated Law Enforcement Center (Gakkumdu) consisting of elements of Bawaslu, the police to the prosecutor's office, is diligent in coordinating with each other to prevent loopholes in election violations, in addition to preventing them.

"Well, today (29/8) is entering the last day of registration. I invite the ranks of the election supervisors to concentrate on supervising the stages of the nomination," he said.
