In The 2024 Presidential Election, Prabowo Is Challenged To Follow In The Footsteps Of Megawati To Appoint Someone Else To Be A Presidential Candidate

JAKARTA - Political observer Hendri Satrio said Gerindra Party Chairman Prabowo Subianto must have the courage to choose someone else as a presidential candidate for his party. Hendri compared with PDIP Party Chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri who appointed Joko Widodo in the 2014 presidential election.

According to Hendri, this is important as a regeneration process for the presidential election.

"Is Prabowo dare to follow Megawati's footsteps in appointing his cadres to enter to the presidential election?", Hendri said in an online discussion, Saturday, March 27.

According to him, Gerindra must come up with new potential and popular names. This is because Hendri is still very few figures known in the party bearing the Garuda bird. Although, Gerindra is included in the top three political parties with the most votes.

"Who are the Gerindra cadres apart from Prabowo? The answer must be Sandiaga Uno, Kamrussamad, or Arief Poyuono. Who is more popular than Prabowo? Just try to conduct a survey", explained Hendri.

This challenge is also a question of whether Prabowo will appoint Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election, given that the discourse of the Prabowo-Anies duet has also appeared in the public space.
