The Constitutional Court Will Immediately Study Anwar Usman's Involvement At The Regional Head Election Dispute Session

The Constitutional Court (MK) will immediately study the role or involvement of Judge Anwar Usman in hearing disputes over the results of the 2024 simultaneous Regional Head Election (Pilkada).

"We'll see, because like this we have to answer carefully," said Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Suhartoyo in Bogor, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 26.

This was conveyed by the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Suhartoyo regarding whether judge Anwar Usman could participate in the trial of the 2024 simultaneous regional election dispute.

Because based on the decision of the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court or MKMK, Anwar Usman could not follow or hear the dispute over the Election of the President or Dispute of General Election Results (Pemilu).

However, he continued, as long as there is no prohibition by law, MKMK, or other parties, no judge is prevented from participating in the 2024 Pilkada dispute.

However, if this is against the law, objections by other parties or the Constitutional Court's decision, then it could be a barrier for Anwar Usman to participate in hearing the dispute over the results of the simultaneous regional elections.

"But now we can't answer because we have to see, and even if there is a decision, it must be decided at the judge's deliberation meeting," said judge Suhartoyo.

The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court emphasized that a panel of judges is needed to see and further study whether the sanctions imposed by the MKMK on Anwar Usman only apply during the Legislative Election (Pileg) and the Election of Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates (Pilpres) alone or also bind to disputes over regional election disputes.

"If yesterday it was related to the Election PHPU, now whether this Pilkada has something to do with it or not, this is what I have to ask for time to look at it," he said.
