Anies Starts Openly Approaching PDIP For Pilkada, Cak Imin: Hope It Runs Smoothly

NUSA Dua - Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) responded to Anies Baswedan's visit to the DKI Jakarta PDIP DPD Office ahead of the 2024 Pilkada registration.

Currently, Anies' opportunity to become a candidate for Governor of DKI Jakarta is open after the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the threshold for nomination of regional heads. Anies also began to openly approach the PDIP and discuss the potential for carrying it.

Previously, PKB had stated that it would carry Anies in the Jakarta Pilkada. However, recently, PKB changed course and moved closer to the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) to carry Ridwan Kamil-Suswono in the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

"Yes, with the Constitutional Court's decision, it means that PDIP can carry its own. Yes, hopefully it will run smoothly," said Cak Imin on the sidelines of the PKB Congress, Nusa Dua, Bali, Saturday, August 24.

Previously, the DKI Jakarta PDI-P Regional Leadership Council (DPD) gave a strong signal that it would carry Anies Baswedan in the Jakarta Pilkada contestation.

The signal was seen when the Governor of DKI Jakarta 2017-2022 seemed to be so 'intimacy' with the Chairman of the DKI Jakarta PDI-P DPD, Adi Widjaja, after the two held a meeting. In fact, Adi Widjaja did not deny that it was possible that the PDI-P DPD would choose Anies Baswedan as a Candidate for Governor (Cagub) of DKI Jakarta.

"God willing," Adi told reporters at the PDI-P DPD, Saturday, August 24.

In addition, in a meeting that lasted about an hour, Anies Baswedan and Adi Widjaja also admitted to talking about many things, especially about the 2024 Pilkada. Starting from equalizing vision and mission to discussing guarding the constitution in the right way.

"We equate vision and mission, how we oversee, there is equality we have a view. That we must guard the correct constitution, we must guard the true democracy. That's all," he said.

Meanwhile, Anies added that he would wait for Megawati Soekarnoputri's decision regarding this Pilkada. So, he did not want to boast about whether or not he would be carried by the party bearing the bull symbol

"So we will discuss things related to regional elections. But we are all waiting for the PDIP's decision," said Anies.
