JAKARTA - The Papuan Police Chief, Mathius D Fakhiri, was awarded the Extraordinary Promotion (KPLB) to be the Commissioner General (Komjen). One of the reasons is because he has revealed several prominent cases when he was appointed as Kasatgassus.

Karo Penmas, Public Relations Division of the National Police, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, said Mathius D Fakhiri, who had served as Dansat Brimob of the Papua Police for the 2014-2017 period, had several cases of smuggling firearms (senpi) for the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).

"Then there was also the disclosure of the case of the arrest of the TPN/OPM operation commander in the Puncak Regency area in 2014. Then there was the arrest of the commander-in-chief of the Paniai KKB in Nabire and the arrest of other cases including the attack on the police station and members," Trunoyudo said in his statement, Saturday, August 24.

Then, from April 2018 to February 2020, Mathius, who served as Intermediate Anjak of the Brimob Police Corps, was assigned as Deputy Head of Operations II of the Papua Task Force, also revealed several prominent cases.

For example, law enforcement at the KKB Lanny Jaya headquarters in Popome District, Puncak Jaya KKB led bytenuh Tabuni and the Semmu KKB Kali Kopi network in Mimika.

Then there was also the disclosure of the theft of senpi members of Denpom Nabire and the disclosure of cases of racism in 2019 against several KNBP members.

Not only that, Fakhiri is also trusted to serve as Deputy Chief of the Papuan Police and to be Head of Operations Nemangkawi from September 2020 to February 2021.

After serving as Deputy Chief of Papua Police, Mathius rose to become Kapolda from February 2021 until now. His work in Cendrawasih Earth in maintaining security and order is also still maintained.

Several cases were revealed, namely law enforcement against Puncak Ilaga KKB, Puncak Jaya KKB, Paniai KKB and others.

"There is also the disclosure of a murder case with the mode of mutilation against 4 OAP (Indigenous Papuans) with 11 suspects," said Trunoyudo.

Furthermore, there was a disclosure of the murder case against Maikelin Kurisi Doga, a female activist from Papua and security for the implementation of the XX PON in 2021.

"In the implementation of PON XX, the Papuan Police Chief successfully secured the implementation of the threat of the KKB network bombing and all athletes, officials and committees and residents safe from the spread of Covid-19," he said.

Furthermore, Trunoyudo also said that the Papua Police Chief had also succeeded in overseeing government policies in changing the Special Autonomy Law (Otsus) and the birth of the New Autonomy Region in Papua.

"During his leadership, Komjen Pol Mathius D Fakhiri managed to maintain the Kamtibmas situation in Papua so that during his tenure the situation was very conducive and safe," said Trunoyudo.
