Menpora Dito 'Ditodong' Mass, Asks Police To Stop The Forced Disbandment

It started when Dito left the Kemenpora office in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta. Suddenly, the crowd banged on the car that the Menpora was traveling in.

Then Dito got out of his car. The mob asked the Golkar politician to persuade the police to stop the dispersal effort by spraying water using water cannon.

Dito agreed to the request. So, he approached the police accompanied by a period of absence to negotiate.

At that time, the police's disbandment attempt had stopped. However, not long after, the police again dispersed the crowd.

Even though his efforts failed, Dito still lobbied the police tasked with ensuring the dissolution efforts were carried out without repressive action.

After receiving this certainty, Dito left the location escorted by police officers and the crowd chose to go home.

It is known that the demonstration was triggered by the DPR which revised the Law on Regional Head Elections which had been marked by chaos.

The crowd broke into the fence of the DPR/MPR Building. In fact, crossed out the walls of the representative people's building with swearing.

The pressure from the mass demonstration that had heated up had subsided following a statement from the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, who said that the ratification of the revision of the Regional Head Election Law was canceled. The registration of candidates for regional elections continues to use the reference of the Constitutional Court's decision.

"The ratification of the revision of the Pilkada Law which is planned to be held today on August 22, has been canceled," said Dasco via the X account @bang_dasco, Thursday, August 22.

"Therefore, at the time of registration for the Pilkada on August 27, what will take effect is the Constitutional Court's judicial review decision to grant the Labor Party and Gelora Party claims," he continued.
