JAKARTA - National Strategy Implementing Coordinator (Stranas) for Corruption Prevention (PK) Pahala Nainggolan revealed that he often entered complaints from local governments and state-owned enterprises in the mining sector. One of them is that their results are not proportional to the damage received.
This was conveyed by Pahala at the signing of the BUMN and BUMD Cooperation at the Mining and Waste Management Sector at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, August 22.
"From the KPK, from Stranas we heard many complaints from local governments about how in the mining sector, local governments are based on regulations, they only get a little," said Pahala, who also serves as Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring of the KPK in his remarks.
"What is clear is that the road is damaged, dusty, the community protests," he continued.
Even so, the local government cannot move because the rules are made by the central government. "Therefore, the government complained," said Pahala.
However, Pahala revealed that SOEs also complained about local governments, especially those who made illegal levies or extortion. This practice is considered troublesome for state-owned companies.
"That's why we say that these individuals are misleading SOEs in operations," said Pahala.
Therefore, Stranas PK together with the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), other stakeholders, BUMN and BUMD strengthened cooperation. The agreement will be evaluated in the future to ensure its effectiveness, explained Pahala.
"Every three months we will evaluate whether the activity has actually been carried out in accordance with applicable regulations and there is no state financial loss, especially those related to corruption if this loss occurs," he said.
