Wrong Step On Gas Pedal, Woman Vios Driver Falls Into BKT Waterway

Toyota Vios is black with police number (nopol) B 1456 TAE stuck in the drainage of a water channel on the side of Jalan Colonel Sugiono, next to the East Flood Canal (BKT), Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta, Tuesday, November 26, afternoon.

The single accident was caused by the car driver not concentrating while driving his car.

According to Indra, an eyewitness, the accident began when the Toyota Vios car drove from Pondok Kopi to the Pondok Bambu area, Duren Sawit.

"He said the rear trunk was open, there was his bag. He (the driver) looked back, automatically the steering wheel turned to the left. He (the driver) said he wanted to step on the brakes but instead stepped on the gas so he fell into the water channel," Indra told VOI at the scene.

From VOI's observation at the location, the car fell to the left of the road and entered the drainage of the water channel. The car also hit the road divider pavement before entering the drainage of the waterway.

Luckily there were no casualties or injuries as a result of the single accident. However, the car suffered damage to the left.

"The incident occurred during the heavy rain," added Indra.

While the driver of the car is a woman. The driver of the car also carried one female passenger.

As of 17.45 WIB, the car had not been evacuated. Even though at the location there were already 2 units of a deres car from the East Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit. However, the car owner refused when he was about to be evacuated.

As a result of the accident, the traffic flow along Jalan Kolonel Sugiono, next to the East Flood Canal (KBT), Duren Sawit District experienced long traffic jams up to several kilometers.
