Police Giring Hundreds Of Students Who Want To Demo At The DPR Building

JAKARTA - Hundreds of students were arrested by the East Jakarta Metro Police from a number of road points to the Central Jakarta and South Jakarta areas on Thursday, August 22, afternoon.

The hundreds of students admitted that they were willing to walk longmarch and ride a vehicle to the DPR building to participate in the demonstration. However, their efforts ran aground in the middle of the road.

The reason is that their actions were successfully prevented by the East Jakarta Metro Police. Hundreds of students were then gathered and stood up to be brought to a number of Polsek and Polres Metro East Jakarta.

"There are 129 students who have been arrested so far. They are detained at the Resort Police and Polsek," said East Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Nicolas Ary Lilipaly when confirmed by VOI, Thursday, August 22.

Hundreds of students who were detained at several Polsek and Polres Metro East Jakarta were subjected to a data collection process. To the police, students admitted that they were invited to demonstrate through the Instagram application and friendship network verbally.

"Indications that they want to join the DPR building because it comes from word of mouth and someone invites them via Instagram," he said.

Luckily, during a search by police from a bag carried by a student, the police did not find any suspicious objects and sharp weapons.

"The items brought like school children to the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (DPR RI) building, there were no weapons. They used vehicles and long marches to the DPR building. We secured them from points that would go to Central Jakarta or South Jakarta," he said.

Until now, hundreds of students are still languishing in several Polsek and at the East Jakarta Metro Police. The police will also summon parents and the school from their respective students who are secured.
