JAKARTA - The action of burning tires and blocking roads colored the demonstration held by the student movement caring for democracy in front of the office of the honorary council of election organizers (DKPP), Gambir District, Central Jakarta, Thursday, August 22.

In their action, the masses urged the DKPP to immediately process to dismiss 5 members of the Mimika Regency KPU commissioners for allegedly committing crimes against democracy.

"We ask DKPP to immediately process 5 members of the KPU commissioner who have violated the code of ethics, bribery and cases of gratification and nepotism carried out by 5 commissioners of the Mimika district KPU, Central Papua," said action coordinator Jeri Dabi to reporters at the location, Thursday, August 22, afternoon.

Not satisfied with burning used tires, the masses then tried to block the Abdul Muis Road section, causing traffic flow from Gambir to Harmoni to experience long traffic jams.

"We ask the DKPP to immediately process and dishonorably dismiss the 5 KPU commissioners who committed this violation," he said.

This act of burning tires and road blockade was carried out as a form of disappointment by the masses whose actions did not receive a response from the DKPP.

Although it had heated up, the mass action subsided when representatives of them were finally allowed to enter for an audience with the DKPP.

In addition, Jeri Dabi also demanded the DKPP to sentence 5 Mimika KPU members who were deemed to have violated Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning elections and the honorary council regulations for holding the general election of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2 of 2017 concerning the code of ethics and code of conduct for general election organizers.

In addition, the masses threatened to hold a bigger action if their demands were not heard by the DKPP.
