Winning Through Quick Goal, AC Milan Beaten By Liverpool

JAKARTA - Unfortunately for AC Milan. Winning first through Christian Pulisic's quick goal, Milan even lost 3-1 when they hosted Liverpool in the Champions League match at the San Siro Stadium, Wednesday, September 18, 2024 in the morning WIB.

But Milan's advantage did not last long. Liverpool quickly managed to get up and equalize the score. Not only that, the Reds, who previously had to admit the superiority of Nottingham Forest 1-0 in the English Premier League competition, were able to turn things around by winning the match.

Victory over Milan is a great start for Liverpool when they compete in the Champions League in a new format. In this new format there is no group division. However, each team competed eight times in the early rounds.

Instead, Milan had to lose by playing at home. A very disappointing result after Milan won their first win in the Italian Serie A competition last weekend.

A landslide 4-0 victory over Venezia's promotion team actually became Milan's valuable capital. Even coach Paulo Fonseca admits he has focused on facing Liverpool as the team is competing against Venezia. However, they still have to admit their rival advantage.

In that duel, Liverpool were surprised by Milan's open game. Playing at home, the Rossoneri immediately kicked off.

Their efforts were not in vain. Pulisic successfully gave Milan the lead through a quick goal. Unfortunately, Milan failed to maintain the 1-0 advantage.

On the other hand, Liverpool quickly rose to catch up. They immediately turned to master the game.

The result in the 23rd minute, midfielder Ibrahima Konate was able to equalize the score. The goal started with defender Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross which was greeted with Konate's header.

The success of changing the score to 1-1 has pushed Liverpool to be more aggressive in suppressing the Milan defense. Arne Alot's team offensive game began to make it difficult for the hosts.

Even Liverpool finally turned 2-1 ahead towards the end of the first half. Captain Virgil van Dijk successfully broke into Milan's goal after his header which welcomed Konstantinos Tsimikas' corner failed to be saved by goalkeeper Mike Maignan. The advantage lasted until the game was over.

Entering the second half, Liverpool lowered the tempo of the game slightly. However, they still control the game.

Milan tried to catch up. However, the host's efforts never came to fruition. Milan's attack could always be thwarted by the Pool's defense which appeared solid.

On the other hand, Liverpool were able to increase their advantage after an hour of the match. Midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai managed to score a goal after completing a mature pass from Cody Gakpo in the 67th minute.

The score changed to 3-1 and Liverpool started lowering the tempo of the game. Milan actually tried to get up to pressure the opponent. But their efforts were in vain.

Winger Rafael Leao almost broke into Liverpool's goal in injury time. But his shot still hit the post. Liverpool's advantage lasted until the game was over.
