1 House Fire Inhabited By 4 Families In Pontianak Eat 5 Casualties

The fire on Jalan Tanjungraya I, Pontianak City, West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) resulted in five deaths and one burns. Until now, the cause of the disaster is still being investigated by the police.

The location of the fire is not far from the Kadriyah Palace, in East Pontianak District. One eye witness who is also a neighbor of the victim Safardiana said the fire occurred on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at around 02.20 WIBWIB.

"Suddenly the fire grew and ate the victim's house. My father and uncle panicked over the incident because some of the ceiling of the house was also hit by fire but it didn't spread," Safardiana said when met in Pontianak, Thursday, August 22, as reported by Antara.

Meanwhile, Syarif Joni Herman, who is the victim's biological brother, said that he and his family had saved themselves after knowing that there was a puff of smoke and fire.

He, who was on the second floor, immediately went down with his son and family.

He said the burning house was inhabited by 15 people including himself and his family. Of the 15 people there are 4 families. Two of the victim's children in the hut.

"This one house has three housing barriers because it is inhabited by several families including me, my sister and others," he said.

He did not expect the fire to spread quickly and everyone panicked. However, at around 05.00 WIB, it was discovered that he had only claimed the lives of his extended family, namely his younger brother, nephew and others.

"This is fate and of course can only be patient. No one knows and thinks this can just happen. What factors do you not know about the burning," he said.

The fire accident resulted in the deaths of five victims, namely Ismail (70), Syarif Maulana (50), Syarifah Ani (40), Syarifah Zahara (13) and Syarifah Hanifa (8). Meanwhile, the burned victims were Syarif Alex Almutahar, who was an ASN of the East Pontianak sub-district office and had to undergo treatment at the hospital.

The acting Mayor of Pontianak Ani Sofian made a pilgrimage to visit the house where the fire occurred.
