Preventing Masses From Entering The MPR DPR Building, Police Prepare 2,013 Joint Personnel

JAKARTA - At least 2,013 joint personnel from the Central Jakarta Metro Police were deployed to secure demonstrations from several elements of society in front of the DPR-MPR RI Building on Thursday, August 22.

"In order to secure the action of community elements in front of the DPR-MPR RI Building and its surroundings, we involved a total of 2,013 joint personnel," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro.

The joint personnel are from Polda Metro Jaya, Polres Metro Central Jakarta, TNI, Pemda DKI and related agencies.

Kombes Susatyo said security personnel would later be placed around the DPR Building to prevent crowds from entering the building or closing the toll road in front of the DPR Building.

Regarding the closure of traffic flow around the DPR building, Susatyo continued, it will be situational. Traffic flow engineering will also be implemented to see the development of dynamics in the field.

"If there are quite a lot of people in front of the DPR and the escalation increases, then we will do insulation on Pulau Dua," he said.

Furthermore, Kombes Susatyo emphasized that all personnel involved in security should always act persuasively, not be provoked, prioritize humane negotiations and services.

Field coordinators (Korlap) and action participants to carry out actions in a polite, non-anarchic manner, maintain security and order, so that action activities can run safely and in an orderly manner as expected.

"Sasatyo also said that none of the personnel involved in the security forces carried firearms and still respected the mass of the action who would express their opinion," he said.
