JAKARTA - The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) detained a scientist in Moscow on suspicion of treason.

The FSB did not name the scientist, who is said to have carried out a service rejection attack (DDoS) distributed to critical infrastructure on behalf of the Ukrainian security service.

Reported by Reuters on Tuesday, August 20, the domestic security agency said the scientist had also sent money to the Ukrainian military, and gathered information about the Russian armed forces. The FSB said the scientist admitted his actions.

It is not clear when the arrests were made. Russian media published what they said was a recording of the scientists' detention.

The video shows a man arrested in a snow-covered city, suggesting the scientist may have been detained some time ago.
