Hasto Reveals Ahmad Basarah Establishes Communication With Anies Baswedan

Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto revealed that there had been intensive communication with Anies Baswedan. This step is said to have been carried out by the Chairman of the PDIP DPP Ahmad Basarah.

"Mr. Basarah has met with political communication," Hasto told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, August 20.

Hasto did not specify the contents of the communication, including the matter of the Jakarta Pilkada. However, the intensity will be increased after the Constitutional Court (MK) grants a request for part of case lawsuit Number 60/PUU-XXII/2024.

"Communication will be further carried out. Even yesterday, Mr. Basarah also communicated," said the former legislator.

Meanwhile, regarding the PDIP opportunity to carry Anies with Hendar Prihadi as a candidate for governor and deputy governor in the Jakarta gubernatorial election, Hasto did not want to talk much. His party will still examine every aspiration of the people.

"Yes, the name is the opportunity for every leader who gets appreciation from the people who have that space to be nominated and that is what the PDI-P will observe," he explained.

Previously reported, PDIP DPP Chairman Deddy Yevri Sitorus said his party welcomed the Constitutional Court's decision which changed the threshold for regional head candidacy in the regional elections. Moreover, so far there has been a scenario of cornering them so that they are only spectators.

"This is very encouraging news because so far there have been efforts by the authorities and footballers who are trying to corner the PDI-P so they cannot nominate in many regions," said Deddy Sitorus in a written statement, Tuesday, August 20.

Deddy said the decision knocked out by the Constitutional Court made PDIP ready to nominate its best figure. "With this, we ensure that we can progress in certain areas that have been controlled by certain oligarchs such as DKI, West Java, East Java, Jember, Banten, Papua and so on," he said.
