KPU Delays Pleno Determination Of Independent Candidates For DKI Dharma-Kun Pilkada Until Midnight

JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) of DKI Jakarta postponed the Plenary Meeting of the Determination of the Jakarta Pilkada Individual Candidate Pair, Dharma Pongrekun and Kun Wardana, until 23.00 WIB because they waited for reports from residents who felt their NIKs were used for candidacy.

"We open up opportunities for people who want to complain to the posts that have been provided by Bawaslu and the KPU," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial KPU Socialization, Education and Community Participation Division, Astri Megatari in Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 19.

According to him, the meeting was postponed first until 23.00 WIB. This is to provide opportunities for Jakarta residents who still want to complain regarding the profiteering of the NIK for support in the nomination of Dharma-Kun.

Astri said this delay was carried out after getting input from the DKI Jakarta Bawaslu because the problems that developed were quite significant.

"Regarding the dynamics that are developing in the community, this forum accepts input to postpone the decision until 23.00 WIB," he said.

Astri explained that the decision of the DKI KPU would definitely be carried out on August 19 because it is in accordance with the stages of the Pilkada that have been set. "We make sure today's decision is in accordance with the stages that have been set," he said.

The Coordinator of the Public Relations, Data and Information Division of DKI Jakarta Bawaslu, Quin Pegagan, said that the input provided was because many people were still reporting the profiteering of the Population Identification Number (NIK).

"We ask that the decision can be postponed until 23.00 WIB," he said.

Previously, the pair of individual candidates in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada Dharma Pongrekun and Kun Wardana admitted that they were not directly involved in collecting Identity Cards (KTP) because everything was handed over to volunteers.

"We are not directly involved in collecting supporting data," said Dharma.

This affirmation is related to the alleged profiteering of NIK on citizen ID cards to support individual or independent candidates in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada.

According to him, all the requirements collected to run as an individual candidate pair are confirmed to be obtained from volunteers voluntarily.

If there are residents who feel they are not supportive and NIK is used to support after being checked, then the KPU has answered what really happened.
