Anies Must Anticipate The Career Threats Of The Civil Servant Who Is A Victim Of Harassment Allegedly Done By His Subordinate

JAKARTA - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has confirmed that the Head of the DKI Jakarta Province Goods and Services Procurement Agency (BPPBJ) is inactive, Blessmiyanda sexually harassed one of his employees.

LPSK Deputy Chairman Maneger, Nasution asked DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to anticipate potential career threats from civil servants who were allegedly harassed by Blessmiyanda.

"LPSK warned the form of threats or potential threats that victims and witnesses might receive, for example, threats related to career or position. This threat is very likely to be received by victims and witnesses in addition to physical threats and legal threats", said Maneger in his statement, Thursday, March 25.

Maneger said, do not let threats related to career and position prevent this case from being revealed. "Do not let the victim become a crime victim, still become a victim again related to his status as a civil servant", he said.

Continuing, Deputy Chair of LPSK Edwin Partogi offered assistance to civil servants who were victims of the alleged harassment. Because Edwin admitted that his party could not directly provide protection to victims without being asked when facing legal problems.

"LPSK cannot provide protection independently without an application because the protection is voluntary. So, those who need it must submit an application", said Edwin.

Edwin said that protection is important because in the civil servant world there is a hierarchy that creates a power relationship between the suspected perpetrator and the victim and witnesses who could be his subordinates.

"This power relationship is often the way for sexual harassment to occur where the perpetrator takes advantage of his position to harass the victim. This includes threatening victims or witnesses not to provide information or report. This is where protection for victims and witnesses becomes important", he explained.

Suspend secretly

DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan temporarily suspended the Head of the DKI Jakarta Goods and Services Procurement Service Agency (BPPBJ), Blessmiyanda due to a case. However, this was not revealed until the news broke.

When confirmed, Bless confirmed that he was temporarily discharged. Currently, Bless is undergoing an inspection at the Inspectorate of DKI Jakarta. However, Bless is reluctant to reveal what case he is currently facing.

"Yes, I will be temporarily discharged. As for the matter (case), I may not be able to convey it", said Bless on Wednesday, March 24.

Then, news spreads about Bless's disabling regarding cases of sexual harassment. When asked about the alleged sexual harassment case, Syaefuloh confirmed that it was included in one of the Inspectorate's examination materials to Bless. "That's the material (of examination), yes", said Syaefuloh.

However, Syaefuloh was reluctant to explain further about the examination. "Later. I'm in a hurry to go to a leadership meeting", he continued as he left.

Until finally, LPSK received confirmation of the truth of Bless's deactivation due to alleged harassment by one of the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government. However, LPSK did not reveal who the whistleblower was because he was a witness who also had to be protected.

Currently, Bless is still undergoing inspection at the DKI Inspectorate. To replace Bless's job for a while, Anies appointed DKI Jakarta Regional Secretariat Assistant Government Sigit Wijatmoko to be the Daily Executive Head of the DKI BPPBJ.
