BNPB Suggests Maluku Provincial Government To Apply For A Reconstruction Rehabilitation Budget

AMBON - Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto, appealed to the Maluku Provincial Government (Pemprov) to propose a budget for post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction programs.

"I have been the head of BNPB for more than two years, thank God, this is the first time to Maluku Province to distribute disaster management assistance, as well as invite the Maluku Provincial Government to propose a budget for post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction programs," he said in Ambon, Saturday.

He said the disaster reconstruction rehabilitation program in Tanimbar Islands Regency (KKT) in 2022 had not yet been realized.

"The regional secretary will please report it to the governor if the budget has not been realized, because the data collection process is not complete," he said.

The assistance program, he said, applies from Sabang to Merauke, from Miangas to Rote Island, so there is no reason even though the location on Tanimbar Island is an Indonesian citizen who has the same rights as those who live in the city.

Suharyanto admitted that sometimes post-disaster assistance has not been understood by the local government, because the bureaucracy sees the requirements to file a post-disaster budget no longer carry out management.

"When you have to prepare 10 letters, you have to step back first, even though it's not difficult to do it seriously, one week is ready, but because it seems difficult so it's late," he said.

BNPB noted that for the Provinces of Maluku and North Maluku from 2021 - 2024, city districts and provincial governments, no one has received a post-disaster rehabilitation budget.

"Even though other regions are competing to help the APBD in disaster management, especially if the area has a lack of financing," he said.

He hopes that the presence of PMK and BNPB ministers will become a record for local governments, so that in the future they will immediately prepare the files needed for budget submissions.

"The disaster will definitely continue to be present in Indonesia because of that, we hope that this is really understood by the local government," he said.
