JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Task Force Handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito appealed to the government and regional task forces to take preventive steps ahead of the Easter holidays. Moreover, Easter will be celebrated on the weekend or Sunday, April 4.

"The Task Force appealed to the government and regional task forces in the next week to start taking anticipatory steps to prevent the occurrence of crowds of mobility related to the celebration of the holiday and especially crowds in holiday destinations", Wiku said in a press conference broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Presidential Secretariat, Thursday, March 25th.

According to him, this needs to be done considering that every national holidays on the weekend, the mobility of residents often occurs and raises the potential for COVID-19 transmission.

"Like previous experiences, national holidays that fall on weekends have the potential to increase community mobility", said Wiku.

The COVID-19 Task Force also asked the public to spend time off at home and not crowd. Besides that, he was reminded again of the importance of implementing health protocols to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

"Please cooperate with the community not to crowd and keep in mind that during a pandemic, it will be much safer to spend holidays at home", he concluded.
