Victims Died As A Result Of The Largest Trash In Uganda Landslides Increased To 34 People

JAKARTA - A total of four bodies were again found in the largest waste disposal site (TPS) in Uganda which had landslides.

The death toll from the incident in the Kiteezi District, Kamala, was 34 as of Friday 16 August.

"With the discovery of four bodies on Thursday, the death toll has reached 34," said Kamala City police spokesman Patrick Onyango, quoted from AFP, Friday, August 16.

The rotten waste material at the TPS buried people, houses, and livestock during a landslide last weekend.

A member of parliament in the region has warned that the number of victims lost or killed continues to grow.

The SAR team continues to carry out excavations to find the bodies of the victims, even though some locations where the garbage was dumped were flooded. Excavators were finally deployed in this search operation.

He added that one body found on Thursday was a man named Abdul Nasir who had been missing since 2022.

With the discovery of Abdul Nasir's body, the number of missing people as a result of this incident, which was previously 39 people, decreased to 35 people.
