Tangerang KPU Will Extend Registration If There Is Only One Paslon

TANGERANG - The General Election Commission (KPU) of Tangerang City will extend the registration period for candidates for mayor and deputy mayor. The extension is given if there is no or only one candidate pair registers for the 2024 Pilkada.

KPU commissioner Rustana said he would extend it three days after the 2024 Pilkada Organizers were stipulated in the General Election Commission (PKPU) Regulation, namely 27 to 29 August 2024.

"The mechanism, if there is only 1 candidate pair, we will extend it for 3 days after August 29, 2024," said Rustana, Thursday, August 15.

Rustana explained that the extension of time for candidate pairs is actually already under discussion at the Indonesian KPU, and will be strengthened by technical guidelines that will be lowered to each province and city or district.

"Technical guidelines have not been issued, because they are waiting for the simultaneous time, and the Presidential Regulation has just been signed," he said.

The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia is holding a Coordination Meeting (Rakor) for nominations in the 2024 Pilkada.

"We are currently working on a coordination meeting of actual candidacy at the Indonesian KPU," he said.
