British PM Calls Iranian President Asks Not To Attack Israel Out

JAKARTA - British Prime Minister (PM) Keir Starmer has made phone calls to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to refrain from attacking Israel.

There are concerns Iran is developing that it will escalate its conflict with Israel into an all-out war after Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Taheran on July 31.

Quoting Metro, Tuesday, August 13, Pezeshkian, who has only served for a month, is considered a reformist. However, Pezeshkian still promised Israel would regret the airstrikes in Tehran that killed Haniyeh.

Starmer's communications towards Pezeshkian took place shortly from the many strong criticisms of Israel that brought down a school in southern Gaza on Sunday last week.

As a result of the deliberate efforts of more than 100 Palestinian civilians, many of whom were children killed.

During his phone call with Pezeshkian, Starmer said he was 'deeply concerned about the situation in the Middle East.

Starmer also asked all parties to ease tensions and avoid further regional confrontations.

British Prime Minister whose country participated in deploying additional troops to the Middle East said the war did not benefit anyone.

An unnamed British government spokesman said: "The Prime Minister underlined his commitment to immediately carry out a ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and increased humanitarian aid to Gaza."

He added that Starmer's focus was on diplomatic negotiations to achieve these results.
