Golkar Will Hold A Plenary Meeting To Choose Plt Ketum, Chairman Of The DPP: No Voting Needed

JAKARTA - The Golkar Party will hold a plenary meeting to elect the general chairman (Plt) at the Golkar Party DPP office, Tuesday, August 13, tomorrow.

The election of the Acting Ketum to replace Airlangga Hartarto, who suddenly withdrew, would take place without voting.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Media and Opinion Raising Division (MPO) of the Golkar Party DPP, Meutya Hafid.

Meutya advised the deputy chairmen (Waketum) to sit down with deliberation and consensus for the Acting Ketum, so that Pleno could run conducively.

"Cadres are still surprised by the Ketum's decision, don't be forced to vote," said Meutya Hafid to reporters, Monday, August 12.

Meutya reminded that maintaining solidity is very important. "And that the candidates who will contest maintain a dignified way," said the chairman of Commission I of the DPR.

Airlangga has submitted his resignation as General Chair of the Golkar Party DPP, since Saturday, August 10, evening. He reasoned that his resignation from the helm of the party bearing the banyan symbol was in order to maintain the integrity of the Golkar Party

"This resignation has occurred since last night, Saturday, August 10, 2024. I am Airlangga Hartarto, after considering and maintaining the integrity of the Golkar Party in order to ensure the stability of the transitional government," Airlangga said in a video of his press statement, Sunday, August 11.

After officially resigning, Airlangga said, the Golkar Party will soon prepare an organizational mechanism according to its party's AD/ART. Namely, in determining the next figure of the General Chairperson of Golkar in the 2024 National Conference (Munas).

"By saying Bismillah, I declare my resignation as General Chair of the Golkar Party DPP. Furthermore, as a strong and mature party, the Golkar DPP will prepare an organizational mechanism in accordance with the provisions of the organization's AD/ART," he said.
