JAKARTA - The Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (JCPOA) or the 2015 Nuclear Deal between Iran and the world's main powers, as well as negotiations on other issues can be revived if the parties involved care about fulfilling interests reciprocally and building trust, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said.

That was conveyed by President Pezeshkian during a telephone call with European Council President Charles Michel on Sunday.

Appointing to the European Council's willingness to continue negotiations with Iran regarding the rise of JCPOA, President Pezeshkian emphasized common trust and interests as a prerequisite for a possible deal.

"If both parties fulfill all their obligations and build trust, they can discuss other issues (which are of common interest) in addition to the revival of the nuclear agreement," the Iranian president said, citing Tasnim from Press TV Aug. 12.

On the occasion, President Pezeshkian also said the double standards applied by the United States and a number of Western countries made Israel even more daring to commit more violent crimes in Gaza and throughout the region.

Meanwhile, Michel said European countries wanted to improve relations with Iran.

He hopes that Iran and the European Union will continue effective interactions based on common interests and remove barriers in an effort to improve relations.

Tehran agreed to limit its nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief as part of the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (JCPOA) between Iran and global powers in 2015.

This agreement was agreed upon by the United States, Iran, European Union, China, France, Germany, Russia and Britain at a meeting in Vienna, Austria on October 18, 2015. This agreement will be implemented starting January 16, 2016.

The agreement collapsed as the United States under Donald Trump decided to withdraw from the agreement in 2018, continuing sanctions against Iran Tehran responded with increased uranium enrichment.
