JAKARTA - The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy (IRGC) received about 2,640 new military equipment, from missile systems to drones on Friday.

State media reported that one of the weapons received was a new cruise missile equipped with a highly explosive and undetected warhead.

"In today's world, you have to be strong to survive, or give up. There is no middle ground," said IRGC commander Major General Hossein Salami.

"A large number of cruise missiles have been added to the Garda naval fleet. These new missiles have highly explosive warhead capabilities that are undetected and can cause major damage and sink their targets," Garda said in a statement.

The Garda Navy also said in a statement that various types of long-range and medium-range missile systems, as well as reconnaissance drones and naval radar, had been added to its fleet.

"This system is among the most recent surface and subsurface weapons in the Garda navy," he said.

State television broadcast several weapons on Friday. The Revolutionary Guard Navy added that only 210 of the 2,654 systems were displayed because it was impossible to uncover other strategic systems for security reasons.

The announcement by the IRGC coincided with fears of a major Middle East war after Iran vowed to retaliate for the murder of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, after attending Iran's elected president Masoud Pezeshkian on July 31.

Iran has blamed Israel, while Israel has neither confirmed nor denied its involvement. In addition to Haniyeh's assassination, an Israeli attack previously killed one of the senior commanders of Iran's proxy militant Hezbollah based in Lebanon, in an attack on Beirut, the day before Haniyeh's death.

Iran is known to have one of the largest missile programs in the Middle East, considering the weapon an important deterrent and retaliatory force against the US and Israel in the event of war.

According to the Office of the Director of US National Intelligence, Iran is armed with the most ballistic missiles in the region.
