Respect The Families Of Victims Vina And Eky, Lemkapi Asks All Parties To Hold Back

JAKARTA - Executive Director of the Indonesian Police Strategic Studies Institute (Lemkapi) Edi Hasibuan is concerned about the thoughts of several retired police generals who have no conscience and mention that there were fabrications in the murder case of Vina and Muhammad Rizky Rudiana (Eky).

Edi asked all parties, including several generals of retired Polri, to refrain from making misleading statements regarding the case of Vina Dewi Arsita (Vina)'s death in Cirebon.

"We are waiting for the PK (Reconsideration) decision as to what it will be like. Is the PK accepted or rejected," said Edi in Jakarta, Saturday, August 10.

"The thinking of the retired general of the National Police is quite confusing. We ask not to make statements that mislead the public. It's a pity for the families of the victims, Vina and Eky. Their children have been killed, instead they are accused of fabricating," he said.

Edi also welcomed the formation of a special team for the National Police who handled the deaths of Vina and Eki, who reportedly had entered the investigation stage.

"We hope that the work of this special team will clarify everything. We are sure that this team will be transparent and examine all parties involved, both in the case of murder and investigators who handled it from the start," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

He said the special team was a form of transparency between the National Police and the reopening of this case. If there were irregularities in the handling from the start, Edi asked that the deviation be processed legally.

The murder case of Vina and Eki, which occurred on August 27, 2016 in Cirebon, West Java, has dragged seven convicts into life. One 8-year-old convict has been released, namely Saka Tatal. Now, Saka is proposing a PK.

One suspect, Pegi Setiawan, who was arrested by the West Java Regional Police on May 21, was released by the Bandung District Court (PN) through a pretrial lawsuit.

This case caused polemics in the public because there were allegations of controversial initial handling.
