JAKARTA - Sub-Directorate IV of the Riau Police Ditrekrimsus arrested Watino (39) and Burhan (42) regarding the addition of land in the asylum forest area of the Sembang Baling Bukit clan, Kuntu Darusalam Village, Kampar Kiri District, Kampar Regency to be used as plantations.

Watino (39) as the operator of heavy equipment and Burhan (42) as the heavy equipment tenant was arrested in two different locations and times.

"The two perpetrators have been arrested for clearing plantation land in the wildlife forest area, in Rimbang Hill Baling, Kuntu Darusalam Village, Kampar Kiri District, Kampar Regency," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Riau Police, Kombes Nasriadi, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 7.

Watino said Nasriadi, was secured while operating heavy equipment working on a protected forest on Thursday (1/8), after which the 3rd Sub-Directorate IV Team developed and secured Burhan as renting the heavy equipment. They were arrested because there were reports from the public.

The team immediately checked at the location using GPS Garmin and the Avenza Maps application to ensure the coordinates and coordinate with experts, it was proven that the location of the plantation land clearing was in a protected forest.

"Watino was taken to the Kampar Kiri Police Headquarters for development. Watino admitted that he was told by Burhan to work in that location. Sunday (4/8), at 11.30 WIB, the 3rd Sub-Directorate IV Burhan team was secured in Tarai Bangun, Tambang District, Kampar Regency while visiting his son," he said.

The perpetrators were charged with Article 92 paragraph (1) Letter (b) and Letter (a) in conjunction with Article 17 paragraph (2) Letter (b) and Letter (a) of Law Number 6 of 2023 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation into Law, in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
