Vice President Ma'ruf Amin Ready To Be A Peacemaker For The PKB-PBNU Conflict

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin emphasized his willingness to mediate against the conflict between the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board.

This was stated by the Vice President in his press statement after reviewing the Ku Gerabah Timbul Raharjo Kasongan Museum, Kajen, Bangunjiwo, Kec. Kasihan, Bantul, DI Yogyakarta, Wednesday, August 7.

"If their wish for me is to be asked as a person who explains, sincerely reconcile, I am very willing," said the Vice President in a press release reported by ANTARA.

According to the Vice President, reconciling the two warring parties is a religious order. Moreover, he is one of the founders of PKB, and has also been active in PBNU.

"Moreover, I was also involved in the time of establishment (PKB), even I was the chairman of the first Shura Council, before Gus Dur, of course I had (closeness)," he said.

However, the Vice President also emphasized that he would refuse to be a peaceful interpreter, if both parties approached him just looking for bullets to attack each other.

"But if you're just looking for bullets, to hit one, only asking from me but used for bullets, to hit the other, I'm not willing," he said firmly.

Ma'ruf Amin emphasized that he did not want to trigger the existing conflict to become bigger.

"But if I am asked to reconcile, they want to make peace finding a solution, of course I am very ready to do that," he said.
