A Family Dragged By River Currents In Agam

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Agam Regency, West Sumatra stated that one family in Padang Alai, Jorong Kampluang Malayu, Nagari or Sitalang Village, Ampek Nagari District was swept away by the river current. One victim has not been found.

"Currently, the victim's child on behalf of Fatin (5) has not been found after being dragged by the river," said Head of Emergency and Logistics Division of the Agam Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Ichwan Pratama Danda in Lubuk Basung as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 6.

He said the victim was dragged by the Tambuo river in Jorong Pasa, Nagari or Batu Kambing Village, Ampek Nagari District when his father's motorbike on behalf of Eri Marianto (36) passed the bridge in the area.

Suddenly the river water was big and carried away by the overflowing current after heavy rainfall hit the area, Tuesday (6/8) afternoon.

As a result, the victim's mother, Reni Andayani (32) and Fatin, were swept away by the river.

Reni has been found about 20 meters from the bridge safely.

"Reni survived and the victim's father was not swept away. Her father was trying to find the victim," he said.

The search was carried out by tracing the river flow up to several kilometers towards the estuary.

However, with the condition of large river water and added dark conditions, the victim was not found.

"The victim has not been found and the joint team is still searching until Tuesday night," he said.
