JAKARTA - The Mahakam Nusantara Operations Task Force from the East Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda) intensified routine patrols in the Nusantara Capital (IKN) area ahead of the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

"This enhanced security measure aims to ensure the safety and smooth development of IKN, especially when preparing to celebrate Independence Day," said Head of Public Relations of the East Kalimantan Police, Kombes Yulianto, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 6.

He stated that routine patrols carried out by the Mahakam Nusantara Operations Task Force were designed to maintain security and public order during the increasingly accelerated IKN development process.

In addition, patrols are focused on preventing various security threats such as theft, vandalism, and more serious potential hazards.

Although comprehensive security measures have been implemented, the Mahakam Nusantara Operations Task Force of the East Kalimantan Police is still facing challenges such as the wide area of IKN development and the growing social dynamics.

"The East Kalimantan Police are committed to creating a safe and conducive environment for all parties involved in the IKN development. This intensive patrol is a concrete effort to provide a sense of security and comfort," said Yulianto.

The increasing volume of vehicles in the capital cities of Nusantara and East Kalimantan causes traffic jams. To overcome this problem, the police have developed a strategy to reduce congestion, especially during peak hours and on Independence Day.

"We have withdrawn personnel and operational vehicles from various Polres to concentrate on security and escort tasks at IKN. We have also coordinated with the neighboring police to ensure adequate resources," Yulianto explained.

To expedite traffic flow and minimize disruption, the police only apply a personal escort system to officials at ministerial level and above. Other participants will follow the routes and procedures set by the organizing committee.

Police have conducted extensive training sessions to ensure that personnel are ready to carry out their security duties, especially in escorting high-ranking officials.
