JAKARTA - The police arrested five members of a silat college on suspicion of beating a young man in Semarang City, Central Java.

Kasatreskrim Polrestabes Semarang Kompol Andika Dharma Sena said the beating of Yuli Susanto (21) occurred on July 27, 2024 at the victim's boarding house, Jalan Pulosari Raya, Genuk, Semarang City.

Kompol Andika explained that the incident began when the victim broadcasted live on TikTok social media shortly before the beating.

"The victim allegedly used a t-shirt whose writing offended the members of the silat college," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 5.

The five perpetrators arrested in the incident were SYA (22) residents of Grobogan, GS (23) and GPK (27) residents of Semarang City, RZ (24) residents of Blora Regency, and RDS (19) residents of Tuban Regency.

He said the perpetrators who were participating in the silat college activities in Semarang Regency then came to the victim at his boarding house.

According to Andika, the victim suffered bruises and was hospitalized.

When carrying out the persecution, he continued, the perpetrators were still wearing the silat college uniform.

For their actions, the perpetrators were charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code regarding beatings.
