JAKARTA - Russia has stated that it can cooperate with Donald Trump's administration after being sworn in as US president next month.
Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov repeated Moscow's statement that Western surprises'' had increased the risk of nuclear war and described global security as sad. Russia, he said, wanted to reduce the potential for conflict.
"Managing this crisis and achieving less shaky conditions than it should now be included in the agenda of hypothetical discussions with America," Ryabkov said in a panel discussion.
"Is it possible to cooperate with the Trump administration? That's definitely possible," he replied when asked about the potential for cooperation.

The statement is Moscow's latest signal, after Trump took office, expecting an increase in bilateral relations that the Kremlin says are currently under zero.
President Vladimir Putin said last month Trump's statement about ending the war in Ukraine, which has been repeatedly said, could be carried out quickly.
Even so, Ryabkov stressed that so far no contact whatsoever has happened between Russia and the upcoming Trump team.
