Ukraine Receives IDR 63 Trillion Grant Fund From US

JAKARTA - Ukraine received a grant of US$3.9 billion (equivalent to Rp63 trillion) from the United States through the World Bank.

This is the first phase of direct budget support from the United States in 2024. In total, Ukraine will receive direct budget assistance of 7.8 billion US dollars from the United States this year, which will allow us to pass this financial period with confidence", said Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

Ukraine's Ministry of Finance said the funds would be used for teachers' salaries, State Emergency Service staff, and other public employees, as well as assistance for refugees, low-income families and people with disabilities.

"This grant will help the Ukrainian government to replace social and humanitarian priority spending without adding to the debt burden," Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko said in a separate statement.

The ministry said since February 2022, direct budget support from the United States has reached nearly USD 27 billion, which is Ukraine's largest source of financial assistance.

Marchenko said the grant was part of a USD 60 billion large support package for Ukraine.
